Enkyoji Buddhist Recovery Group
With Rev Cederman’s support and guidance, Enkyoji Buddhist Recovery Group was founded in March 2021 with the aim of offering help, support and guidance to people suffering from various forms of addiction and to offer Buddhist principles, practices and teachings as a solution to understanding and alleviating such issues.
We further use the example of the Eternal Buddha Shakyamuni and his teaching of the Lotus Sutra together with the example of the Great Bodhisattva Nichiren Shonin and his practice of the Odaimoku to see our lives more clearly.
As our preamble says:
“Welcome! Enkyoji Buddhist Recovery Group is a gathering of people interested in learning how to use Buddhist principles and practices to help alleviate issues surrounding personal addiction. An understanding of Buddhism is not necessary, but we do encourage participants to try and use these principles and practices in order to build a healthier life.”
Our group is international with members from the United States, United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Anyone from any location is welcome. We meet every Saturday at 6 pm GMT via Zoom with a simple meeting format:
- Welcome & introductions.
- Guided healing meditation.
- Odaimoku chanting.
- Personal sharing and reflections on a topic.
- Odaimoku Sansho.
- Fellowship in the form of an informal chat.
Our hope is our group will grow and change organically over time, but we will never lose sight of our fundamental aim of offering help, support and guidance to people suffering from various forms of addiction through Buddhist principles, practices and teachings.
