On the first Sunday of each month, we try to hold a special children’s service instead of our regular service. During the service children make special offerings of flowers, candles, and incense to the Buddha and sing songs that teach Buddhist principles and values in a fun way. They also participate in a shortened version of the regular service, learning how to chant the Odaimoku and part of the Jigage from Chapter 16 of the Lotus Sutra, how to use uchiwadaiko drums, and how to offer incense.
Following the special children’s service, children may attend our Dharma school, while adults listen to a talk given by one of our priests.
In addition to this special children’s service, we also hold Dharma school on most other Sundays following the regular service unless there is a potluck lunch or other special event. Please check the calendar to see our current schedule.
If you would like to know more about our children’s service, please contact Rev Cederman.
Special thanks to D-Kidz for the CD’s we use during the children’s
service.
